IFM O1D100

Leveraging IFM’s proven laser distance measurement technology platform, the IFM O1D100 maintains stable performance in harsh industrial environments characterized by dust, oil mist, and extreme temperatures. Floating Light Automation is an authorized distributor maintaining ready stock, enabling rapid 48-hour delivery for orders within Europe and North America.

Floating Light Automation is a China-based distributor and supplier of the IFM O1D100, a core industrial sensor from IFM Electronic. Characterized by high detection accuracy, rapid response, and strong interference resistance, this product is suitable for automated production lines, logistics sorting systems, intelligent warehousing, and other industrial applications, meeting the need for high-precision, non-contact distance measurement.

We have established long-term, stable supply partnerships with authorized IFM distributors and regional distribution centers, achieving an average monthly supply volume of over 120 units.

Product Core Features

The IFM O1D100 adopts the principle of laser time-of-flight (TOF) ranging, which can achieve non-contact distance measurement within the range of 100mm to 10000mm, with a maximum resolution of 1mm and a response time as low as 10ms, which can meet the high-speed dynamic detection requirements of automated production.

It supports multiple output modes including NPN and PNP, and is compatible with mainstream industrial control protocols such as PROFINET, which can be easily connected to various automated control systems and floating light production lines.

The housing is made of die-cast aluminum alloy, with an IP67 protection level, which can effectively resist the intrusion of dust and water vapor, and adapt to the ambient temperature range of -25°C to 55°C.

In addition, the product supports one-key parameter configuration through the ifm IO-Link function, which is convenient for on-site debugging and later maintenance, and greatly reduces the difficulty of equipment installation and adjustment.

Differential Comparison with Similar IFM Products

Recommended Matching Solutions for Different Automation Scenarios

1. Floating Light Positioning for Automated Assembly Lines

In the floating light assembly line, the O1D100 is mainly used for real-time positioning of the workbench and the workpiece to ensure that the floating light mechanism can adjust the position accurately according to the workpiece positioning data.

In this scenario, it is recommended to match the ifm E3Z series photoelectric sensors as auxiliary trigger sensors.

The O1D100 is responsible for long-distance ranging and positioning, and the E3Z is responsible for triggering the measurement when the workpiece arrives, which can improve the detection efficiency and avoid the problem of false triggering caused by environmental interference.

At the same time, matching with the ifm AC1144 IO-Link master module can realize real-time data upload and remote parameter adjustment, which is convenient for the intelligent management of the production line.

2. Intelligent Warehousing Stack Height Detection

In the automatic stacking and depalletizing link of intelligent warehousing, the O1D100 can be installed at the top of the stacking frame to detect the height of the stack in real time, avoiding the problem of overstacking or empty stacking.

In this scenario, it is recommended to match the IFM LR series radar level sensors for combined use.

The O1D100 is responsible for accurate measurement of the stack height within 10 meters, and the LR sensor is responsible for early warning of the overall area to form a double detection guarantee, which improves the stability of the system.

This solution has been applied in more than 20 intelligent warehousing projects in Europe, and the operation stability rate reaches more than 99.2%.

3. Logistics Sorting System Positioning Detection

In the high-speed logistics sorting system, the O1D100 can detect the position and volume of the package in real time, providing basic data for the sorting mechanism.

In this scenario, it is recommended to use 2-3 O1D100 sensors for distributed layout, which can cover the full width of the sorting conveyor belt and avoid missing detection of oversized packages.

At the same time, it can be matched with the ifm CR0403 control module, which can directly process the ranging data locally and output the control signal, reducing the data transmission delay and improving the sorting efficiency.

Application Notes

· When installing, avoid direct irradiation of the laser on the human eye, and take corresponding protective measures in accordance with industrial safety specifications.

· When measuring objects with high reflectivity such as mirrors and glass, it is necessary to adjust the detection sensitivity in advance to avoid measurement errors.

· When using in a high-dust environment, it is recommended to regularly clean the surface of the sensor probe to ensure the accuracy of the measurement.

FAQ

Q: How do I configure the analog output (4-20 mA or 0-10 V)?

A: The OUT2 output on the IFM O1D100 can be configured as an analog output. There are two key parameters:

ASP (Analog Start Point): Defines the distance value corresponding to 4 mA (or 0 V).

AEP (Analog End Point): Defines the distance value corresponding to 20 mA (or 10 V).

For example, if you want to map 4-20 mA to a range of 0.5 m to 8 m:

ASP = 0.5 m → Output 4 mA

AEP = 8.0 m → Output 20 mA

The output scales linearly between these points.

Menu navigation: Press M/E to enter the menu → Locate "ou2" → Set to "I" (4-20 mA current) or "U" (0-10 V voltage) → Configure ASP and AEP respectively.

Q: How do I choose the sampling rate (1-50 Hz)?

A: The sampling rate is adjustable between 1 and 50 Hz:

50 Hz: Fastest response; suitable for high-speed detection (e.g., rapidly moving objects).

1 Hz: Slowest, but provides the most stable measurement; suitable for static measurements or applications requiring high interference immunity.

Selection advice: 10-20 Hz is generally sufficient for most industrial scenarios.

If readings fluctuate significantly, lowering the sampling rate is more effective than adjusting any other parameter.

Q: Does the O1D100 support IO-Link? What data can be read?

A: Yes, it does. The O1D100 is equipped with an IO-Link communication interface (COM2, 38.4 kBaud, IO-Link Rev 1.1).

Via IO-Link, you can read real-time distance values, remotely modify all parameters (SP, hysteresis, analog range, etc.), diagnose sensor status, and perform firmware updates.

The master port type must be Class A, with a minimum cycle time of 5-6 ms.
